After 30+ years of use, the outdoor sun protection system of the police building in Maastricht was in need of renovation. Parts were cracked or broken, and since replacement components were no longer available for the sun protection system, opting for an entire system replacement seemed excessively costly. As a result, alternative solutions were sought.
We were approached by the police station to explore the possibility of reproducing these parts using modern technology. With the aid of the existing components, RRU has crafted prototypes for assembly purposes through 3D printing technology.
In the end, the incorporated components were crafted using CNC production techniques to ensure the overall strength of the material during use, ensuring weather resistance and mechanical durability.
